The clamp has 2 parallel grooves, allowing 2 conductors to be inserted from opposite sides and compressed together.
The clamp body must be made of high-strength aluminum alloy with good electrical conductivity. The clamp can connect both copper and aluminum conductors. It is secured tightly to the conductors by compression with crimping pliers. The inside of the clamp is prefilled with electrical compound to prevent oxidation at the joint.
