Vietnam develops wind power model combining ecotourism

Mr. Bui Van Thinh – director of Thuan Binh Phong Dien Joint Stock Company, said that the company will build a wind power model combining eco-tourism at the wind power development conference in Binh Thuan on the morning of February 16. Specifically, at Phu Lac wind power area (capacity of 24MW, already in operation) with 400ha, Mr. Thinh said that he is continuing to invest in solar power here with a capacity of about 100MW, in 2018 will invest in the first item. with a capacity of 30MW, information posted on Tuoi Tre said. After that, the company continued to develop the model of growing clean vegetables and raising cattle according to the model of ecotourism. This is aimed at getting more income early to recover capital in the context that the current wind power price (7.8 cents/kW) is considered by investors to be low. Phu Lac wind power is considered one of the rare modern wind power projects invested in Vietnam with Danish technology provided by Vestas Company. The total investment capital of the above projects is 2 billion USD. The employee added, according to Mr. Bui Van Thinh, Vietnam’s wind power potential is huge. According to the national electricity development plan for the period 2011-2020 with a vision to 2030, the Government aims to increase wind power capacity from 140 MW at present to 800 MW by 2020, about 2.00 MW by 2025 and about 6,000MW by 2030. A corner of wind power in Phu Lac, Binh Thuan – Photo: Youth Many investment projects have been certified but cannot be implemented because they cannot borrow capital. The reason is that the wind power industry in Vietnam is still young, has poor support infrastructure, and lacks specialized personnel. More importantly, the investment cost is high, but the purchase price of wind power in Vietnam is only about 7-8 cents/KWh. This price is the lowest in the area, not guaranteeing a profitable project. “Binh Thuan Wind Power Association has repeatedly proposed to the Government to adjust the purchase price of wind power to 9.5 cents/KWh, the Government has also committed to establish a new price for renewable energy by the end of 2016 but Up to now, this decision has not been issued,” Thinh said.
